The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and serving them and their families. We work tirelessly to uphold our vision that every individual and family living with I/DD in the United States has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
Broad Futures
One in five individuals has a learning or attention issue. BroadFutures is revolutionizing the way young people with learning disabilities enter the workforce. Our unique approach builds confidence, improves communication skills and enhances job performance. We incorporate experiential learning opportunities that serve to challenge comfort zones and empower young people to achieve transformative, positive and successful futures.
Main Street Connect
Main Street is an inclusive, community-centered residential development – the first of its kind in the Washington Metropolitan Area – where 25% of the apartments are designed and designated for adults with disabilities. On course to be completed by 2020 in the heart of Rockville, MD, Main Street seeks to be a model and a mindset – an affordable and inclusive community that offers social engagement, unparalleled accessibility and dynamic educational, vocational and therapeutic programming. Non-residents may join our membership and participate in community activities along with residents. In this way, the project will have an even broader impact beyond providing critically needed housing.
