Our Story

Like many initial charitable endeavors, Twisted was born from personal experience and in some respect, frustration. After witnessing first-hand the lack of post-high school employment opportunities for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities we decided to try and make a difference. Our goal is to create an opportunity that could lead to a future career in the food service or hospitality industries. Given our ties to the Wharf community, the location seemed to be a perfect match. So far, the concept has been received with great enthusiasm. Initial support from Monty Hoffman and Amer Hammour gave us the confidence to launch Twisted and the entire Wharf team has been involved in making Twisted a reality. It has been nothing short of inspiring and we could not have done it without their help.

We joined forces with great people like John Bradley and his team, the Wharf Association and the Hoffman marketing team, and created what we hope will be a successful shop serving great quality pretzel related items.  Our added dual mission makes it a personal passion – first, to provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn job skills and gain a path to personal independence, and second, through sharing our profits, to continue to support many of the incredible non-profit organizations in the area who also support the I/DD community.

We hope to see you soon! - Mark, Amy and Kevin Dorigan
